From the fertile mind of Director Leos Carax come ‘Annette’ on the big screen at The Source.
Described by some as a rock opera, it follows the swift courtship of provocative stand-up comedian Henry McHenry (Adam Driver) to world-famous soprano Ann Desfranoux (Marion Cotillard). Ann gives birth to their daughter Annette, presented provocatively by Carax as a wooden marionette puppet. The marriage becomes rocky when Henry begins to take care of Annette while Ann’s career flourishes and takes her on an international tour.
‘Annette’ has some modern opera in its DNA — a lurid strand of violence, madness and demonic passion that evokes pre-World War II Vienna or Berlin as much as classic Hollywood. – New York Times
